One industry that benefits a lot in the use of carbon fiber is the aerospace industry. The superior strength to weight ratio of carbon fiber reinforced polymers has made the material a popular choice for aerospace and defense applications. Increasingly, aircraft companies have been turning to composites to help make their vehicles lighter, more fuel-efficient and more comfortable for passengers.
In 2017 DowAksa opened The DowAksa Global Composites Center in Yalova, Turkey. The AS9100 and Nadcap certified high technology facility is designed to advance carbon fiber, fabric, prepreg and other reinforcement composites manufacturing mainly for aerospace applications in both defense and commercial aviation, also targeting infrastructure, marine, wind energy and automotive markets.
